I’m supporting this campaign as every day I am in awe of people overcoming their challenges, showing their strength of character and resilience. Community funding assists people to have a higher quality of life through: community activities; social occasions; access to suitable accommodation options; and access to other supports, which the NDIS may not fund.
Cootharinga North Queensland is a not-for-profit and iconic North Queensland for-purpose organisation, which for the past 66 years has played a major role in North Queensland communities by supporting people who live with disabilities and their families; and now people who are ageing.
At Cootharinga we do not see ourselves as simply a service provider, we are part of the social and economic fabric of the communities we support. We live, work, play and spend our money in the North Queensland communities we serve.
Our vision: “Building a better world with people of all abilities!”
Our purpose: Tailoring solutions to assist people live the life they want
Our customers: Anyone who is having difficulty achieving the life they want, due to an impairment, whether permanent or temporary; or due to ageing
Cootharinga’s rich history demonstrates how a group of caring and committed citizens can start a chain of events that continues to improve the opportunities available to North Queenslanders, over decades.
